Course Description
In partnership with ABCOPAD, ACTS Ministry School offers an 8-week annual course designed to provide skills and training for followers of Jesus Christ who desire to serve their home and area churches as pulpit supply preachers. This course will provide training in basic communication skills, sermon preparation, sermon writing, and the art of preaching. Additionally, students will learn how to write and deliver both thematic and seasonal sermons. Students will also gain an overview of the ministry of the American Baptist Churches of PA & DE.
This course is not meant to provide training in pastoral ministry, nor does it qualify someone to serve as a local church pastor. It is designed to offer training to those who feel called to preach the Gospel and provide pulpit supply for congregations in ABCOPAD. Individuals sensing a call to pastoral ministry are encouraged to take this course and then enroll in the ACTS Ministry School for in-depth training in pastoral ministry.
Students who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of completion from the Region and be placed on the Region's official "recognized pulpit supply speaker" list, to be shared with any churches who request it.
